Since Nike released the MVP Package in very limited quantities I had gotten a few special requests from clients to create something similar. What you see is the result of my sneaker cooking skills and working with the right base shoe. I selected the “Scarface” LeBron 9 as a base and went to work in my GourmetKickz Kitchen to create this “MVP-Alike”. The tongue mesh, midsole, flywire mesh, and inboard sidewalls received the most attention for this makeover. The outboard swoosh received some paint but its trim was left red for accenting. The inboard swoosh was left red to showcase how closely the red I mixed matched the original red on the base. The result is a shoe that may not be identical to the original MVP LBJ 9 but will sure cause plenty of double takes and draw loads of attention. This custom piece is available after the jump and will include the base “Scarface”. Or you can send in your LBJ 9 “Scarface” to have this work done by clicking here (select MVP-Alike from the options) >>
I wouldn’t be a Chef if I didn’t offer items on my menu to satisfy all tastes. While this doesn’t mean I customize every shoe into a ParaNorman theme, it does mean that I will offer a multi-course meal using the hottest kicks out as the key ingredient. Above you see my take on how a ParaNorman LeBron 9 Foamposite should look. As you know by now bringing this dish to life is a easy task for me. Key features include glow in the dark zombie mist on the quarters, electric green accents, an electric green sole that glows in the dark, and plenty of other glowing accents. The packaging will be very similar to my King of the Galaxy LeBron 9 Foamposite package in that a custom box, custom insoles, and custom hang tag will be included. Check out more images after the jump and book your pair now.
Since Nike has decided to let the “What The LeBron 9” remain on the design table as a scrapped sample, I decided to allow my clients the chance to customize their own LeBron 9 “What The LeBron”. What you see above is just a mockup of what the actual sample might look light. Very similar except for the solid white midsole and laces. Clearly I had to guess at the rear of the shoe too, but I think you get the point. Now how about your turn to create your own “What The LeBron” composed of your favorite LeBron 9s? Commission me for this job by purchasing here or after the jump and we will engage in an intense design session where we work together to select the best base shoe and overall design for the left and right shoes. After we discuss the design, I will create a mockup rendering for the pair and upon your approval begin designing. You can even choose to send in your own kicks to save a little money. I look forward to creating some crazy customs, so lets get to cooking!
This is my latest addition to the 1 of 1 Custom LeBron 9 Galaxy Foamposite series that I offered a select few who reached out to me after my “King of the Galaxy” project sold out. This version uses a grey and white base LeBron 9 Foamposite. I customized this pair with a different galaxy print and decided to make this one really pop by treating the flywire mesh portions to glow in addition to the sole, laces, and swoosh. The result is yet another well cooked and damn near nuclear dish. If you really must have a pair and are prepared to pay a premium and wait for this dish to be cooked to your specs, you email me. I may decide to launch a product listing for a bespoke session so stay tuned. There are more images after the jump and plenty more pics to come in the image gallery.
Once again straight from the back burner and into the oven set to broil is an idea that has been cooking ever since the Custom Nerf LeBron craze began. I am not one to copy cat, but certainly one to go against the grain and put my own twist on popular trends. I cooked this dish up with inspiration from the Nike KD 4 Nerf and in acknowledgement of popular custom takes on the shoe. I decided to reverse the artwork layout and place it not on the hyperfuse, but on the flywire mesh and fiber sidewalls. While the above image is just a mockup, you can certainly see from my track record of mockups vs actual shoe comparisons that I am more than capable of cooking this recipe up to perfection. Just like my “MVP In South Beach” this sneaker will feature a custom insole, it will also come with legit concord colored Lebron 9 laces and an extra pair of legit volt green LeBron laces.
This custom launch will deliver starting in September which means orders should be placed now. My average construction window is ranging from 2 to 3 months. I apologize but I simply do not rush work, and if clients wish to continue to receive best in class customer service and there can only be one Chef, then this is how it will remain. Quite frankly, I prefer to give great customer service and take my time on work than push out rushed sloppy projects.
I may decide to limit this piece so if you wish to order you can cop a pair after the jump or head on over to the AF1King Shop and select some more goodies to feed your appetite for GourmetKickz.
Previously I launched a mockup and pre-sale for a Superman vs. Kryptonite themed LeBron 9 as part of my Heroes and Villains theme. What I didn’t plan on was that as I made one of these, I would end up creating more a Doernbecher AJ 4 inspired dish. Well I let my instincts go and made some changes on the fly. The results of following my gut is the masterpiece you see before you. Not much has changed from the originally planned design, but the final piece has so much more impact. The blue flywire pops against the black hyperfuse, as does the volt green accents. A great finishing touch was the addition of the Superman emblem atop the LJ logo at the heel’s pull tab. Check out a few more images after the jump and be sure to pre-order a pair. You will not be disappointed with this Custom Nike LeBron 9 from GourmetKickz and trust, it is worth the wait.
I had originally conceptualized these customs on a LeBron 9 Foamposite base, but decided to put some of my Dunkmans to use by flipping a pair up. The result is a very similar final product with a clean look. This version is named “Dunkin in Brooklyn” referencing the use of the Dunkman and the 112 spin. Elephant print adorns the sidewalls while the flywire mesh at the forefoot and heel are treated with 3M reflective paint. The midsole is also stippled with 3M. Matching volt laces swap out the original grey. Check the AF1King store for these to drop. Order soon as I will be taking a summer hiatus returning for back to school and holiday orders. Enjoy the rest of the images with and without flash to see the impact the 3M treatment has. Continue reading
“This fragment of his planet will be his worst nightmare” So true about the green crystal with amazing powers and a source of weakness for the Man of Steel. And what better a shoe to represent the dichotomy of super-heroic strength and weakness than the Dunkman LeBron 9? The sole is dipped and dyed to glow in the dark as is the entire sidewall of Kryptonite! The remainder of the shoe is completely reworked from flywire mesh to hyperfuse to midsole and swoosh. If you wish to get an idea as to how my mockups compare to the actual finished product so you can purchase with confidence, head over to this page >> Enjoy this main course and break neck as easily as Superman would. Cop after the jump or head on over to the AF1King Shop and see what other taster morsels you wish to feast on. Bon A Petit! Continue reading
Why So Serious? Well maybe you need some Jokes Man! Get them in the form of these “JokerMan” Custom LeBron 9’s by your truly, Chef of GourmetKickz. Some may snicker and sneer at this shoe, but that’s the point isn’t it? And in all honesty, who didn’t have something slick to say at the site of the rather unusual Joker? That bright green hair, that purple jacket, the green waistcoat, fancy braces, amazing hex pattern shirt, Ferragamo shoes… what a dresser! So maybe you can’t pull off the same look, but surely you can pallet a dish that is concocted of all the aforementioned ingredients! The final dish is pictured and cooked extra well done if I don’t say so myself. Have a healthy helping and rejoice in these kicks as the jolly Joker would. Break necks while doing so, figuratively of course, let’s not immerse too deep into the brutal bozo of bedlam. Cop a pair after the jump or head on over to the AF1King Shop to see this new custom on the chopping block and many more.
Launched appropriately on Mother’s Day is not just a new custom shoe, but a new custom group of kicks from GourmetKickz. This Custom “Aunt Pearl” Foamposite Pro (using a donor Pearl Foamposite Pro from the client) was an obvious design to help start the series Chef is calling the “Pink Pudding” Collection. Pink Pudding takes a page out of and pays homage to one of Chef’s most revered influences and favorite Brands, Ralph Lauren and his Pink Pony Collection. Similar to Pink Pony, a portion of the proceeds from all sales of Pink Pudding goods will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. You can check out more of the Pink Pudding Collection after the jump and even purchase the goods. Continue reading
