Cooked up from an idea a friend threw at me, I decided to start the day with a healthy super-heroic dish. The “DunkMan of Steel” LeBron 9 which represents the battle between Krytponite and SuperMan. The sidewalls are wrapped with GLOWING Kryptonite fabric. The remainder of the shoe is completely re-worked: painted upper and flywire mesh, glow-dyed sole, painted midsole and stippling. The shoe is ridiculous, and who knows what suprises the packaging holds!

Some may snicker and sneer at this shoe, but that’s the point isn’t it? And in all honesty, who didn’t have something slick to say at the site of the rather unusual Joker? That bright green hair, that purple jacket, the green waistcoat, fancy braces, amazing hex pattern shirt, Ferragamo shoes… what a dresser! So maybe you can’t pull off the same look, but surely you can pallet a dish that is concocted of all the aforementioned ingredients! One of my favorite iterations of The Joker has got to be the character that Heath Ledger portrayed in The Dark Knight. Hands down one of the darkest versions of the beloved villain, and what a well dressed SOB! Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, a great hex patterned shirt, great vibrant purple jacket and a green waistcoat, finished off with pinstripe trousers and old school braces… such a dapper fool that Joker. The LeBron 9 Elite Taxi colorway is dope, but is it really deserving of the “Bruce Lee” nickname that some have assigned it? NO! Chef has tossed some ingredients into the pot and cooked up a dish more aptly named for the founder of Jeet Kune Do. The custom “Game of Death” LeBron 9 Elite. This shoe is simple yet effective in achieving its goal…. kill the OG Taxi! Most notable the upper has been changed to black, the midsole gets a makeover to yellow with red flecks, and the swoosh is bloodied. Custom LeBron 9 P.S. Elite "Taxi" "Game of Death" by GourmetKickz

Although the LeBron 9 P.S. Elite “taxi” are called by some the “Bruce Lee”, I saw much more potential in the newly released Elites to be more closely associated with the legendary pioneer of Jeet Kune Do. The color remix is of course a direct connection to the track suit worn by Bruce Lee in “Game of Death” and borrowed years later by Uma Therman in Kill Bill. The hyperfuse is hand painted to black, the outboard swoosh is swapped to red, the midsole is redone in yellow and flecked with black, and finally the laces are swapped to red. Enjoy this deadly dish if you wish for an eye-catching alternative to the “taxi” release.

Pink Pudding takes a page out of and pays homage to one of Chef’s most revered influences and favorite Brands, Ralph Lauren and his Pink Pony Collection. Custom LeBron 9 Galaxy Foamposite “King of the Galaxy” Revealed

Back in mid February I decided to launch a product on this site with just a mockup image, something I often do. However, never before has a mocked up design been so well received than this Custom LeBron 9 Galaxy Foamposite which I dubbed the “King of the Galaxy”. This image set is from the first 8 that were shipped in the run of 24 pair that sold out. Due to the high density of orders placed in such a short period of time, the series had to be constructed 8 pair at a time to ensure quality and refined finished product. A new logo was also designed in honor of this launch. The logo is a combination of the LBJ logo, my own GourmetKickz iconic logo, and the NASA logo. The galaxy print used is from NASA’s image archives. It is much more detailed than any “galaxy” print any airbrush artist or ink process can emulate and in fact, what everyone refers to as a galaxy is actually a nebula. As a sort of finale to my run on 112 inspired customs I could not help be work up a Custom 112 Inspired Foamposite One and Pro. Above is the Foamposite One which will be fabric wrapped in VT-like fashion with elephant printed canvas. The soles are dyed in a bright neon yellow green similar to the 112 shoes. And the accents are treated with 3M reflective to completely embody all constants from the 112 sneakers put out by DJ Clark Kent. A Masterpiece! Dyed sole, painted accents, VT-like Fabric Wrapped upper with elephant print canvas, and a 3M reflective eyestay! An alternate version offers 3M plastic accents and tongue with the eyestay in black! Which one is hotter? Custom Nike Zoom Rookie "Brooklyn Rookie" a 112 Homage by GourmetKickz

Once again, today I decided to pay tribute to Dj Clark Kent, a friend in the sneaker game and full time representative of one of the Meccas for newest kicks… Brooklyn! This custom Zoom Rookie embodies the elements of 112 releases and features two version. The first version has 3M reflective treatment to the grey suede eyestay, the lining is dyed black, accents are painted. The second version has 3M reflective tongue and sidewall plastic accent orbs, with the eyestay suede dyed black this time. In both versions the sole is dyed and the shoe itself is wrapped in Elephant Print Canvas in a VT-like technique I developed. These shoes will certainly be a stand out from your collection.

Custom Nike LeBron 9 Foamposite | Elephant VT Wrap| "The King and Clark"

One of the colest cats in the Sneaker Game by far is DJ Clark Kent. While I have known Clark for several years this shoe marks the first custom I have ever done that pays homage to the man who I consider to be the true AF1King. Some of my favorite AF1’s are my 112 forces, from which this LBJ9 pulls lots of inspiration. Electric Green is used in place of Neon and the forward facing grey flywire mesh is 3M Reflective, as are the midsole splatters. The foamposite portion is wrapped in Elephant print fabric in a VT-like manner, like many of my other customs. The base shoe is ordered from NikeID as soon you pay for your order, therefore you must allow 5 to 8 weeks for shipment of your customs.
